Why did KEE buy Smart Parts’ patent portfolio?

Propaintball.com has received an email announcing KEE to have purchased the Smat Parts patent portfolio in its entirety. The brief email did not offer much insight to what KEE aims to do with the acquired immaterial property rights, but after the fall of Smart Parts the speculation around the company remains has been vivid to say the least. First off, the entire bankruptcy proceeding was a long-running “solid” rumor and finally materialized after the 2009 World cup.

Major rumor regarding Oliver Lang!

SocialPaintball posted a huge, but unverified and sourceless rumor regarding Oliver Lang. According to the quick post, Oliver has signed a contract with Planet Eclipse, and thus would be leaving both the Ironmen and his position at DYE. Now THAT’s what I call a big move, almost as big as the original (rumoured to be 10-year) contract with DYE back in 2006. Propaintball.com posted up a nice bit of information on the off-season transfers overseas. There seems to be a lot going on, and the effects of the chaotic dash for sponsorships is beginning to show.. Since there has been no announcements of any pro teams receiving a Smart Parts sponsorship, I think the story of one of the longest-running companies in paintball is clearly and undisputedly coming to an end. Albeit everyone is entitled to an opinion, the situation has left the former SP sponsored teams in a frantic search – and the larger effects of SP downfall may even have an effect on the leagues as well. Anyway, check out the transfers here!

Below, Ollie Lang shares his very interesting insights on the transfer rumor-mill on a video posted on Youtube – Hold on to your hat, this is hot stuff!

JT Sports going belly up?

Again, we feed off the great stuff View from the Deadbox diggs up – you guys should all subscribe to that.

There has been a few notions that Wal-Mart would not be distributing JT products anymore, and  as JT has received over half of its sales through Wal-Mart, the company suffers a hard blow. Hard enough that it might even be forced to close down. For us older guys, this is really sad bit of gossip as JT and Scott were the first really big equipment manufacturers in the sport and were big contributors in the initial growth of paintball.
