Social Paintball has been quick to get J-Rab’s interview online. It seems that the curse of the third tournament is also present at the pro level, and just like us, everything seemed ok up to the point when it was proven that it was not. I’m really pleased that Social Paintball did the interview and that J-Rab found the decency and sportsmanship to try and explain the best he could.

Over the winter we have been reading various rumors and bits of gossip about DYE branching into snow sports, but there hasn’t been too much concrete information. With the PSP season opener in Galveston, Texas showing Mikko Huttunen amiss from the Ironmen back line, we figured that something is really bubbling under. We contacted Mikko and discussed a lot of recent topics.

In the past we did a post on Sawyer Smith, a young kid into paintball with his dad. Now PBLiveTV has had Sawyer do a bunch of Pro Player interviews for them, and at least I can’t help a grin sneeking up watching the video. The fun little interview sniplets boast a group of big-name players such as LA Ironmen’s Brandon Short, Scott Kemp and Mike Paxson as well as Junior Brown and Thomas Taylor from XSV. It’s about time to go live with this now, so here goes. As a researcher for the Aalto University School of Economics I was given the opportunity to explore conducting research on video a few years ago. At the time, it didn’t take long for my colleague and compatriot Joonas Rokka to identify an interesting context of consumer culture – yes, that would be paintball (at the time an utterly bizarre idea for me, fortunately I played along). Suddenly, I found myself being both the researcher and the researched.

On Monday’s VFTD post Baca Loco pointed his readers to a very, very interesting interview of Richmond Italia and Tom Cole (GI Milsim and Kingman, respectively) by Blast Radius Woodsball Podcast. The 1hr 15minute podcast is an extremely educational bit on a lot of the controversy surrounding the .50 cal and the rest of the most debated issues of recent months. One of the major statements that can be extracted from the interview is Richmond Italia’s clarification of the state of Smart Parts.
