2016 season was a strong season domesticly with us winning both SPBL League and Division 1. Season 2016 was a season to save some resources and skipping tournaments abroad. Our end of season goal was trip NXL World Cup playing a format we hadn’t done in a few years. Learning curve was steap and end result wasn’t what we expected but we had some good games and gained some good experience how we need to prepare for possible 2017 return.
2017 season will see us returning to European tournament scene with us making comeback to the Millennium Series at semiprofessional level. In our roster we will have some new and old faces so it will be quite an exciting season.
After a quiet season of 2011 Cyclone is back in business visiting our neighbouring Paintballers and I have to say it’s about frigging time. We started the tour visiting Riga for the second leg of the Winter Cup in March, followed by a Photography trip to the Millenium Series season opener in Saint-Tropez, and now just before the Finnish summer we were off to see the Swedes. This is our second trip to Uppsala to play the Open CPL. The first trip was in 2010 and we had a blast. No reason then to expect anything less.
This year’s posse comprised of the old school guys Aleksi and Markku , the youngins Wilhe, Olli and the in betweener Janne. We also had Miro from PPW to strenghthen our ranks.
Everyone else but Janne and Miro left on Thursday straight from a Tuusula Grind practice session to the Stockholm ferry. Not because they actually had to be in Sweden on Friday but to fully enjoy the subtle attractions of the ferry… And as expected I’ve been informed that the trip details are not to be revealed on this site. But let’s just say that the guys enjoyed some wine, danced with some attractive ladies and went to bed early. And yes, the videotape from the trip has been buried on the backyard and will not be seen ever again.
PSP Galveston Island Open suffered from severe weather storm that caused moving most PRO games to Phoenix Open. You can read up what PSP staff had to deal with over at VFTD .
Video feed worked quite well from the new PaintballAccess.com portal with quality footage and commentary. Hopefully Pro games show up with good quality on youtube as before but until then here are Saturday Pro games from the live feed.
Social Paintball has been quick to get J-Rab’s interview online. It seems that the curse of the third tournament is also present at the pro level, and just like us, everything seemed ok up to the point when it was proven that it was not. I’m really pleased that Social Paintball did the interview and that J-Rab found the decency and sportsmanship to try and explain the best he could.
The PSPwebcast guys have listedned to the people and posted up (in record time) the complete webcast coverage of the final match of the 2011 PSP Chicago Open, with Boston Red Legion taking on San Diego Dynasty. The 1-hour long video has all the action of this epic, epic battle! If you missed the webcast, this is a godsend for you. One of the absolute best paintball matches in the history of the sport!
SK Moscow have again really made an effort in getting high quality material of CPL games. Absolutely fantastic stuff, they seem to be getting more and more cameras to each event and the editing makes sure everything worth seeing is captured on tape. Memory card. Whatever. Great stuff anyway!
The holidays are here, so time to post some nice pass-time videos. Check out the great footage SK Moscow posted from the Millennium season-opener held at Paris Longchamps racetrack, top notch! Spring is coming and these will get you in the mood!
The PSP Galveston final game is online! The series of youtube videos produced by Patrick Spohrer and Monkey With a Gun have kept me glued to the screen for a good part of the week. Have to say, that when the lack of a live webcast became clear earlier this year , I was really disappointed. In retrospect, I have to say that this is a much better option than just the live webcast with a few games possibly being onlline later, like it was in 2009. As the quality of the production has been absolutely fabulous with multiple well thought-out camera positions and Matty Marshall as the main commentator, you can only be thrilled! Enjoy the final with SD Dynasty going against Boston Red Legion!
