Upcoming League and Our Hiatus of The Internet

As you’ve noticed, we’ve been having a break of this internet thing due to holidays, births, lazyness. Updates both here and in fecesbook have been rare. Here’s a little update. After the pro school, we’ve been training at our venue 2-3 times a week. Just yesterday we had a game day with Trivoga. Thanks guys! It was a joy to play in the almost cold 25C (that’s 77F for those people still riding their horses to work their lords demesne). We managed only a couple of games, while field walking took much of our time. Personally I would have prefered more game points, but we got a good read of the field.

Summing up the Cyclone DYE Pro Training Day

Wow, a week has already flown since we had the privilege of having Mikko, Pete and Devon with us for a great day of pro player tips, tricks and drills – sorry about the delay. If you missed the event, you really missed out on a lot of good stuff and there is no excuse for you. Except maybe for Hilu, who called us early in the morning quite upset complaining that “for NINE MONTHS she has been swelling up slowly and steadily, going past the due date just to give birth TODAY! TODAY OF ALL DAYS!” There’s little you can add to that..

Millennium Basildon 2010 – Saturday and Sunday

To start Saturday we had one victory in and one tight loss in our pocket. We were anticipating a tight game against our good friends the Amsterdam Sabotage 2 so we changed our strategy so that we would push way harder from the midfield and M-side to compensate the lack of aggression seen in our games on Friday.  The winner would secure a spot on Sunday so the stakes were high.

Millennium London Schedule

Our first game will be against Spartans Athens at 14:30 GMT.

Next 16:30 against 7ene Compagnie Nancy.

Last Prelim will be in Caturday 14:00 against our friends Amsterdam Sabotage 2.

It’s a pity that the Div 1. is only a shadow of it’s former self. Playing against the same teams is a bit boring.Bonus side for this is that you get to know your opponents better: Do they play aggressive or defensive, if they have starplayers, how good their aim is, etc. The other thing to keep in mind is that often the roster of a team can change drastically between tournaments. At least ours has. We have about 12 persons on the active European tournament roster and those are seeded to play tournaments according to free time/money/performance. Good thing about this is that we are more unpredictable. Down side in this is that, because Paintball as a team sport on our level demands that you know the playing styles of your field mates intimately, the optimal mix of styles are not always achieved. I feel that in London we have a great team on site and expect results to confirm this. So you better step up boys!

Hopefully our guys will fill our hungry minds with results and thoughts here or in Facebook

First report from Bitburg

I just got a report from Bitburg so here goes…

The third game of Malaga was played this morning against Empire Venice. As expected it was a tight one. Cyclone managed to score the first points taking the game to 2-0 but after regrouping the Empire boys tied the game to 2-2 plus took the next point to 2-3. Cyclone tied the game again to 3-3. Empire managed to get a great break to the last point and took the win 3-4.

It seems that our guys are going to have game packed weekend since although they lost their game they’re still going to go through to the “Sunday club”. The Malaga tournament had so few teams that actually got there that an extra 6 teams go through to the last 16. Cyclone is one of them and their next game is against FiveStar Lleida. After that they’ll start the Bitburg tournament and play against FiveStar Lleida again but this time on a different field.

Tomorrows opponents are going to be the Danish Copenhagen Synergy and Dogs D Amour Thessaloniki from Greece.

Only two days to go

Millennium 2010 Bitburg is at hand and the anticipation is crushing…

First of all: After the Malaga event got canceled on Saturday, the last games on our group got moved to Bitburg and everything remained open.  Now the situation is, that Empire Venice has a firm grip on the preliminary win with their  two points. Both we and the Sugar Daddy’s have acquired one point before the last game, so if we both take wins, there will be three teams at two points and it’ll all be decided by the point differences. To go even further, if we should take the win with a landslide, we have a chance to win the preliminaries all together. Talk about pressure…

Playing with the Big Boys

It’s again time to start packing the good old Explorer and prepare for a tournament weekend, as we have done so many times before. Most of us have seen countless tournaments on various levels of competition in Finland, Scandinavia and elsewhere in Europe. A handful of us have even made the trip across the great water to play the official PSP Race-to format. Still, when the opportunity to participate in the Paintball Swedish Masters in Uppsala, we took it in a heartbeat. The Open division offers a team list that is something like playing a round of golf with Tiger Woods..

Malaga report: The long way home..

It might seem that this report is late on arrival but I assure you it is not. Because of  Pinatubo2 in Iceland our players have been arriving home during the weekend almost a week later then scheduled. Here’s what happened:

The Sweet Life – Dye Travel Blog

Dye has made a short but sweet video blog entry on their youtube channel. Dye had three of their guys – Mikko Huttunen, Rocky Cagnoni and Billy Wing - offering a three-hour mini clinic and the now famous “NT Experience” in Guadalajara, Mexico for the participants of the Mexican Paintball League.
