So MS decided to give us the players some updates for season 2010. Unfortunately after reading the press release trough it didnt have much of news in the end.

Dear Team,Firstly we would like to thank you for being a part of this years league. In particular we would like to thank you for your help and understanding at our opening event in Malaga, where we experienced the worst weather during an event in our history. Thankfully we ended the season in Turkey with probably the best weather we have had.
During 2009 we held one of our 5 events as an open cup in Paris, making a departure from our normal 5 leg league. After taking account of all feed back we have decided not to repeat this in 2010 and will therefore return to a 5 leg league as normal.
As always we are working hard behind the scenes right now in order to get the best possible venues with the best possible deals for teams confirmed. We are currently much further ahead with this than normal and can confirm our first two events with provisional venues for the last three. Shortly we believe we will be in a position to fully confirm the schedule detailed below. From lessons we learnt this year in Turkey, we are also negotiating very hard for improved hotel deals for teams at all venues and will bring advanced information on this as soon as possible.
The rules commission is also currently looking at the rule book to see where and if any changes are necessary. One rule that will be changed for 2010 will be regarding caliber. There is a growing demand to allow other calibers to participate in The Millennium Series and we are pleased to confirm that in 2010 we will allow both 0.68 0.50 cal. As a result we will open up our events to new companies who will be looking to sponsor teams. We expect to start announcing 2010 sponsors very shortly.
We are also looking at some fine tuning of our events in order to add to the overall atmosphere and smooth running with the hope to be able to help cut your costs further. We will shortly be contacting you for your feed back to assist us in our planning.
In the meantime if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Millennium. Once again thank you for your support.
Kind Regards
The Board of The Millennium Series
So first MS comments on the unfortunate event in Malaga that got cancelled. Sorry but the possibly strong winds shouldnt have been any suprice for the organizer. When you have an event at the beach by the sea at a location that is known to have good winds at that time of year it shouldnt be a suprice. Why would windsurfers head down to that area otherwise?
I was down to World Cup a few years ago when a good size hurricane hit Florida. Sure the hurricane came a day before WC started but still everything went smoothly when tournament started even when everything had to be taken down from fields to vendos displays and tents. MS dosent get any pitty points either for just the case that they werent even able to inform proprely teams on what was gona happen. Well done for having teams to get stuck at the site for saturday and wait for information that turned out to be wrong when you got back sunday morning for those games.
For dates and countries we have now two first events “confirmed” but with no venue or even location mentioned or witch parts of those countries we will go I fear even those might change. We have to just hope that there arent any last minute changes and that we will be able to start looking for decently priced flights in time.
Now to the whole part with “There is a growing demand to allow other calibers to participate in The Millennium Series” witch annoys me the mostly. Where is that demand comming from? Not atleast from the players and teams. So ok MS is trying to get some more money in from one or two new .50 companies. From companies that are spending money on a marketing gamble trying to creat an market that dosent yet exist and dosent yet make any money for them. How long can those .50 caliber companies afford pushing money into marketing before the market is created? Its a risk also for those teams that are solely built with that money.
I wish MS would atleast inform us if there are some major changes to field size, fps, rof or anything else major for 2010. After all teams are already practising and it would be good to know if its even the same game we will be playing next year. One major issue is also on different forums mentioned ASTM standard. Seems to be a touchy subject with no comments.
